Wolf Moon’ is the first piece from a new ‘Luna Collection’ I’m starting based around animals associated with the moon, in 12 of the full moons that happen through the year.
The first full moon in January is tonight and is called the Wolf Moon. Native Americans and Medieval Europeans called January’s full Moon a Wolf Moon, it was believed, because wolves howled more at this time of year as there was less food (But we now know this isn’t entirely accurate as howling and other wolf vocalisations are heard in the wintertime to locate pack members, reinforce social bonds, define territory, and coordinate hunting).
