The Luna Collection’ is based around animals associated with the moon, in 12 of the full moons that happen through the year.
The Algonquin people named the full moon in May the Flower Moon. The name refers to the abundance of flowers that bloom at this time. The moon can also appear warm toned when it's low in the sky because the light passes through more of the Earth's atmosphere, so I have used copper leaf. The flower depicted is called ‘Queen of the Night’ as its flower only blooms once a year and for one night only. It’s big, beautiful and very fragrant to attract nighttime pollinators, which is why she has been painted with a Hummingbird Hawk Moth.
